The Breast Center at TMCP: How We Can Help

The Breast Center offers state-of-the-art services to help prevent and treat breast disease.

The Breast Center at The Medical Center of Plano is one of only a few medical facilities in North Texas that is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. What does that mean? It means that we provide the highest quality care in breast disease diagnosis and treatment. Here’s how we can help you:

Information. Staffed with highly skilled physicians and medical professionals, The Breast Center is a great resource for information regarding breast cancer and other breast diseases. We are a good place to learn about everything from the basics of prevention to the latest advances in testing and treatment.

Prevention. Each person who has a mammogram at The Breast Center also completes a risk assessment. Those determined to be at significantly increased risk are counseled about the importance of BRCA gene testing, and its role in prevention and recommended treatment options.

Diagnosis. From mammography to ultrasound to biopsy, The Breast Center utilizes the most advanced and most effective tools for diagnosis of breast disease.

Treatment. If diagnosed with breast disease, together you and the members of your treatment team will decide what type of treatment or surgical procedure is best for you. We offer lumpectomy, radiation therapy, mastectomy, and more. We also counsel patients on pain management options and reconstruction procedures.

Support. Patients receive both pre- and post-operative care through our Nurse Navigator program. Our registered nurse has a special certification in oncology and provides education, support and referrals to help make a breast disease experience easier and less stressful for a patient and his or her family. In addition, The Breast Center offers support groups, which can be an invaluable source of information, ideas and helpful relationships.
