When it comes to stroke, the leading cause of disability and the third leading cause of death in the United States, the timing of treatment and and techniques used are critical. Our NeuroLink™ Stroke Program features neurologists, neurosurgeons and nurses on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week for prompt triage and immediate treatment of stroke. We take a multidisciplinary approach tailored to the specific patient in order to maximize care, limit damage and increase the chance of a successful recovery. Some of the latest stroke treatments we offer include:

• Clot-busting medication. Intravenous tPA is a blood thinning medication that can be used within 3 hours of the onset of stroke symptoms to dissolve clots quickly, therefore reducing the risk of further brain damage.

• Clot-retrieval devices. A minimally invasive procedure utilizing a catheter can sometimes be performed to remove a clot if using intravenous tPA isn’t an option.

• Minimally invasive sophisticated surgical procedures. A catheter-based endovascular coiling or clipping procedure can help patients suffering from a hemorrhagic stroke or brain bleed. TMCP is the first and only hospital in Collin County, and one of only a few in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, to offer the advanced endovascular coiling procedure.
